Masseria Santi Ligueri:
Between Baroque and the Salento Sea

Just two kilometers from Lecce and nine from the Adriatic coast lies the ancient estate of San Ligorio, first mentioned in 1378 and linked to the medieval cult of Saint Lidoire, Bishop of Tours. At its heart stands Masseria Santi Ligueri, the historic core of the old hamlet. With its 18th-century tower—once used as a lookout and postal station—the masseria preserves traces of medieval and perhaps even Roman origins. Its strategic position made it a crossroads of travelers, merchants, and noble families. On its ancient walls, graffiti, drawings of faces and Ottoman figures, and inscriptions on trade and local produce still tell stories of life, exchange, and creativity.

Santi Ligueri: Between Baroque and the Sea

Restoration, Sustainability, and Nature

After decades of abandonment, Masseria Santi Ligueri has been lovingly restored since 2021 under the guidance of Antonio, Donato, and architect Davide Negro. The restoration followed traditional lime-based techniques, enhancing the beauty of original stonework, arches, vaults, and colors. Surrounded by a one-hectare park enclosed by a 16th-century wall, the property features a 1700s tower and well, three ancient citrus groves, and a Mediterranean garden filled with the scents of rosemary, myrtle, and lavender.

A Homecoming in Pure Salento Style

The estate preserves and opens to visitors its eighteenth-century architecture, the tower adorned with historic graffiti, and a unique hydraulic system with rainwater inlets and underground cisterns. Amid history, nature, and authentic atmospheres, Masseria Santi Ligueri invites guests to discover the charm of Salento’s past through cooking classes, recreational activities, hands-on workshops, and guided tours of the complex.
The three apartments – Le Stalle, Il Granaio, and Il Vecchio Forno – retain the connection with the estate’s original functions, blending tradition, modern comfort, and warm hospitality.
